Mission Creep explained

What is developing in Libya today could be regarded as a we see as what is defined as Mission Creep. As the military stalemate clarifies, it becomes clear to the USA, France and the United Kingdoom that the only way any significant progress can be made against Gaddafi is by the upscaling of  air strikes and, possibly the introduction of ground troops and associated to back up the rebel fighters.

It is this process which is being described as mission creep, as it threatens to move outside and beyond the terms of UN1973. Some members of the UN Security Council, plus a numberof Nato members are totally opposed to such activities.

William Hague has hinted that small units may be deployed when he said there would be “no large-scale use of ground force
